As part of the program to strengthen routine immunization in Niger, Askaan's mission is to support the Regional Health Directorates (DRSP) of Maradi, Diffa and Zinder in the implementation and monitoring of the program through dedicated technical assistance - Program Officers.
These Program Officers were introduced at the end of July 2022 to the administrative and health authorities of the different regions.
The introduction of the Program Officers in the regions of Maradi and Zinder was marked by a working session with the DRSPs and the Regional Immunization Coordinators (RICs). During this session, the job descriptions of the Program Officers and the memorandum of understanding signed between the government of Niger and Gavi, the Aliko Dangote Foundation, and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation for the strengthening of routine immunization in Niger were presented.
The Regional Program Officers Bassirou Deme and Laminou Mamane Arzika have the primary mission of supporting the strengthening of routine immunization in the regions of Maradi and Zinder respectively.
The Regional Program Officers will be based in the offices of the various PHRDs to facilitate constant interaction between Askaan Health and the regions.
This mission augurs a fruitful collaboration between Askaan Health and the regional health directorates of Maradi and Zinder.
The next step will be to install the Diffa Region Program Officer.
