Askaan is a non-profit organisation based in Senegal that was founded in 2017 by public health specialists who have long worked at strategic levels at both national and sub-national levels across Africa; the aim being to contribute to the emergence of communities so that they take charge of the changes necessary for their development and well-being. The organisation stands out for its ability to take a holistic approach to public health issues, enabling complex problems to be resolved while developing innovative and inclusive approaches that integrate the gender dimension. The aim is to identify, develop and deploy localised, evidence-based solutions that put communities at the centre of the process of solving public health problems.
